Cartridge Depot wants to change the way people buy ink and toner cartridges for printers and fax machines.
Founded in 2004 by Ken Blum and Nick Sheehan, Cartridge Depot began as a
retail ink store in Boca Raton, Florida. Refilling ink and toner in a retail setting, Ken
and Nick learned the trade and quickly came to realize that selling ink in a retail
setting was not a profitable business model. Switching gears, Nick hit the streets
knocking on doors of businesses looking for a niche that could be replicated. The
response to saving money was universal, and sales quickly grew.
After fine tuning the business model and marketing strategy, the Boca Raton store
was converted to a franchise and Nick moved to Baltimore in 2007, where he and
Ken began to develop the franchise system. Today, Cartridge Depot has over 35
franchise locations and continues to grow.
Cartridge Depot is part of KAB Management, a successful strategic turn around
organization. KAB has turned around numerous companies from a failing state to
multi-million dollar organizations across many industries including healthcare, car
rental and direct mail. In 1993, KAB took over the operations of Rent-A-Wreck, a
publicly traded car rental franchise system. The management team, which included
Ken, was able to turn a profit in 18 months and in 1999, Rent-A-Wreck was ranked
the 65th most profitable company on NASDAQ. At itŐs peak Rent-A-Wreck had over
500 franchisees.
Our current portfolio of businesses also includes Gadget Guru. Currently under
development, Gadget Guru is a retail electronics repair company specializing in cell
phone and game system repairs. Franchises will be available in early 2012.
Become part of a successful organization with a great business model.
